Bombay HC Asks Vijay Mallya On Return To India While Hearing Plea Challenging Fugitive Offenders Law

The Bombay High Court has asked fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya to disclose, on affidavit, when he plans to return to India before hearing his challenge to the constitutional validity of the Fugitive Economic Offenders Act, 2018.

The Court made it clear that a person who remains outside the jurisdiction of Indian courts cannot seek to question the validity of a law.

It also observed that Mallya cannot pursue parallel remedies at the same time.

The matter has been listed for further hearing on February 12, 2026.
