Bombay HC Grants ₹8 Lakh Compensation to Parents of Man Who Died Falling From Mumbai Local Train

In a landmark case, the Bombay High Court awarded ₹8 lakh to the parents of Nasir Ahmed Khan, who tragically died after falling from a crowded Mumbai local train in 2010.

The Railway Claims Tribunal initially rejected the parents' claim, arguing that the absence of a ticket disproved Khan’s bona fide passenger status.

The Court overturned this, citing evidence including police reports and medical certificates that established the incident as an "untoward accident" under Section 123(c)(2) of the Railways Act.

The Court emphasized fairness, holding that technicalities should not hinder rightful compensation under the law.
