Bombay HC Clears Marathi Film ‘Ajey’ Without CBFC Cuts or Edits

The Bombay High Court has permitted the release of the Marathi film Ajey without any cuts or modifications, overturning the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC)’s demand for deletions.

The movie, inspired by the book 'The Monk Who Became Chief Minister', is said to be based on the life of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The court held that the CBFC’s objections lacked merit and violated artistic freedom under Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution.

The film, which addresses sensitive social issues, was deemed not to threaten public order or morality. Producers had challenged the CBFC’s edits as excessive and unjustified.
