The Bombay High Court has directed the Maharashtra government to deposit ₹3.60 crore within two weeks for failing to implement the compensation recommendations of the Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission (MSHRC).
Hearing a PIL, the Court noted that between 2013 and 2025, only 44 out of 180 MSHRC recommendations were complied with, leaving 76% pending.
Terming the delay as administrative apathy, the Court held that victims continue to suffer despite favourable orders.
It also directed appointment of a nodal officer to ensure notices are served to victims or their legal heirs and facilitate timely disbursement of compensation.
