Bombay High Court Dismisses PIL on Ticket Scalping, Highlights Legislative Domain

The Bombay High Court dismissed a PIL by lawyer Amit Vyas seeking stricter guidelines to tackle ticket scalping and black marketing of event tickets, citing the issue as a legislative matter.

Vyas highlighted unethical practices, including bot usage for mass ticket purchases, during Coldplay concert ticket sales, which sold out in 30 minutes and were resold at exorbitant prices.

The Court suggested addressing grievances with the State government, reiterating its limited role in policymaking.

The PIL alleged consumer rights violations and called for an expert committee to regulate online ticket sales. The Court clarified that Vyas could approach the competent authority.
