The Bombay High Court has upheld a divorce granted to a husband, ruling that false accusations of an extra-marital affair, refusal of physical intimacy, and public humiliation by his wife amount to mental cruelty.
A bench observed that insulting the husband before friends, mistreating his employees, and showing indifference toward his specially-abled sister caused deep emotional distress.
The couple, married in 2013, separated within a year. The Court found no chance of reconciliation, noting the husband’s unchallenged efforts to save the marriage, and dismissed the wife's appeal seeking restitution.
