The Bombay High Court has formed a three-member committee to assess and improve airport facilities for senior citizens and persons with disabilities, especially concerning wheelchair availability.
Chaired by retired Justice Goda Raghuram, the panel includes a DGCA representative and consumer activist Shirish Deshpande.
The initiative follows petitions highlighting distressing incidents at Mumbai Airport, where elderly passengers faced inadequate wheelchair assistance.
The Court criticized the DGCA’s excuse of overbooking and emphasized the committee’s non-adversarial, advisory role. The Court stressed that “nobody should suffer," and the matter will be heard next on June 30.
