The Bombay High Court granted interim relief to singer Kumar Sanu in a ₹50 crore defamation suit filed against his former wife Rita Bhattacharya, restraining her and certain media platforms from publishing or circulating allegedly defamatory content about him or his family.
The Court observed that Bhattacharya’s interviews prima facie went beyond fair comment and amounted to a personal tirade.
While deferring the plea seeking deletion of the interviews, the Court directed that no further statements be made pending hearing of the interim application and recorded a request for mediation.
The matter is listed for further hearing on January 28.
