Bombay High Court Stays Order Directing FIR Against Flipkart in Shemaroo Copyright Case

The Bombay High Court stayed an order of the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Andheri, which had directed registration of an FIR against Flipkart and others based on a complaint by Shemaroo Entertainment alleging unauthorised use of its copyrighted content on social media for promotional purposes.

A bench of Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar and Justice Gautam Ankhad issued notice to the respondents and listed the matter for final disposal.

The Court also directed that no further proceedings shall continue pursuant to the magistrate’s order until the next hearing.
