Bombay HC initiates Criminal Contempt Proceedings Against Advocate for Scandalous Remarks Against Judge

The Bombay High Court has initiated a suo motu criminal contempt case against Adv. Nilesh Ojha, who has been accused of making a scandalous remark against a judge while defending himself in the first contempt proceeding against him.

The advocate has made several allegations against Justice Revati Mohite-Dere, accusing her of perjury, forgery and being biased towards the ruling party in his interim application.

The Court held that his remarks were extremely derogatory, capable of eroding public trust in the judiciary and damaging the judge’s reputation.
