The Bombay High Court has issued a draft notification proposing amendments to streamline the hearing of quashing petitions.
Public suggestions are invited until December 17.
The draft titled Bombay High Court (Appellate Side) (Amendment) Rules, 2025 states that petitions seeking to quash FIRs, crime reports, charge sheets, and investigative orders, whether moved under Article 226, Article 227, Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure or Section 528 of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, will go before single-judges instead of Division Benches.
The change deletes the current exception and will apply to both fresh and pending cases, subject to any special statute.
