Bombay High Court Allows Animal Sacrifice at Vishalgad Dargah During Bakrid and Urs

The Bombay High Court authorized animal sacrifices at the Hazrat Peer Malik Rehan Mira Saheb Dargah within Vishalgad Fort, Kolhapur, for Bakri Eid on June 7 and the Urs festival from June 8 to 12.

The permission applies to both the Dargah Trust and devotees, subject to strict conditions from a June 2024 order. Sacrifices must occur in a private, enclosed area (Gate No. 19), not in public spaces.

The Court upheld this as an age-old religious tradition, while ensuring compliance with archaeological preservation rules. The ruling balances cultural practices with heritage protection.
