The Bombay High Court has issued a notice to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on a petition filed by Ajey: The Untold Story of a Yogi producers, alleging undue delay in film certification ahead of its August 1, 2025 release.
The bench criticized the CBFC for not adhering to statutory timelines and rejected its demand for a No Objection Certificate from the UP Chief Minister’s Office, which the petitioners called baseless.
The filmmakers claim the delay harms their financial and professional interests after spending over ₹30 crore on production and promotions. The Court scheduled the next hearing for July 17, directing timely certification as per law.
