Bombay High Court Seeks Report on Illegal Loudspeakers at Religious Places

The Bombay High Court has directed the Director General of Police and Principal Secretary, Home Department, Maharashtra, to file affidavits detailing actions against 2,940 illegal loudspeakers at religious places, revealed via an RTI query.

The bench emphasized enforcing a 2016 judgment restricting loudspeakers without permission. The affidavits must provide district-wise data, outlining penalties or other measures taken.

The issue stems from a contempt plea by Santosh Pachalag, highlighting non-compliance with the earlier ruling.

The High Court scheduled the next hearing on March 18, 2025, demanding strict adherence to noise pollution norms.
