The Bombay High Court dismissed a petition challenging the constitutional validity of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
A bench of Justices AS Gadkari and Neela Gokhale held that the anti-terror law is constitutionally valid despite concerns over its alleged misuse.
The petition was filed by Anil Baburao Baile, who received a notice in connection with the 2018 Elgar Parishad case. He had argued that the law gives excessive powers to the government and violates fundamental rights.
A similar challenge to the UAPA provisions is currently pending before the Delhi High Court.
