The Bombay High Court has directed the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to decide within two working days whether to certify Ajey: The Untold Story of a Yogi, a film based on the life of UP CM Yogi Adityanath, inspired by The Monk Who Became Chief Minister.
The producers, Samrat Cinematics, approached the Court citing delays and alleged CBFC’s arbitrary demand for a No Objection Certificate from the UP Chief Minister’s Office, which they argued lacked legal basis under the Cinematograph Act, 1952 and Rules, 2024.
Citing violations of Articles 14, 19(1)(a), 19(1)(g), and 21, the petition was disposed of after CBFC’s assurance to expedite certification.
