CBFC Offers Film Clearance With Just 2 Edits If Title Changed To ‘V Janaki’ : Kerala High Court

CBFC Offers Film Clearance With Just 2 Edits If Title Changed To ‘V Janaki’ : Kerala High Court

The Kerala High Court has directed the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to issue a censor certificate to the Malayalam film JSK: Janaki v State of Kerala after producers agreed to two changes.

The subtitle will now read “Janaki V” or “V Janaki” to remove direct reference to the State, and the name “Janaki” will be muted in a courtroom scene.

Originally, the CBFC had earlier demanded 96 cuts, but later narrowed it to these two.

The producers filed a writ petition citing delay as a violation of free speech under Articles 19(1)(a) and 19(1)(g). CBFC has raised concerns about religious sensitivity.
