CBI Searches Former NCLT Official Premises in Rs 1 Crore Bribery Case

The CBI conducted searches at the premises of a retired NCLT official in connection with a Rs 1 crore bribery case involving a legal firm.

The firm allegedly demanded Rs 1.5 crore from a litigant for influencing members of NCLT Mumbai to expedite the process and get the Judgment delivered on a desired date at the earliest in his favour, later settling for Rs 1 crore. 

The CBI, with the complainant’s cooperation, facilitated a Rs 20 lakh advance payment to the firm's account.

The investigation targets the firm’s proprietor, an employee, and unidentified public servants for criminal conspiracy and manipulating NCLT proceedings.

The final NCLT order remains pending since August.
