
The CBI has opposed Congress MP Karti Chidambaram’s plea to ease foreign travel conditions imposed in the INX Media case, citing Vijay Mallya’s escape as a cautionary precedent.
The accused was out on bail in the INX Media case, is required to get court permission for each trip abroad. His lawyer argued he's an MP and not a flight risk.
The Delhi High Court questioned whether one fugitive justifies treating all accused the same. While acknowledging the CBI’s concerns, the Court advanced the hearing to September 10 but didn’t decide on easing the bail terms yet.
