The Competition Commission of India (CCI), on December 12, 2024, issued a cease-and-desist order under Section 27 of the Competition Act, 2002, against the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) and its affiliates TSTTA, MSTTA, and GSTTA for violating Sections 3(4) and Section 4 of the Act.
The violations included refusal to deal and abuse of dominance by imposing restrictive rules and advisories that hindered player participation in independent tournaments. While acknowledging corrective measures taken during the investigation, the CCI refrained from imposing fines.
This ruling ensures fair competition and promotes an inclusive environment in Indian table tennis.
