The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has dismissed complaints by Airen Metals Private Limited and Airen Copper Pvt. Ltd against Hindalco Industries and Vedanta Limited, alleging abuse of dominance and anti-competitive practices in the refined copper market.
The informants claimed the two companies, controlling about 75% of the market, imposed unfair marketing policies, including premature invocation of bank guarantees.
After examining the evidence, the CCI found no prima facie case of abuse of dominant position under Section 4 of the Competition Act and closed the case under Section 26(2), declining interim relief as well.
