CCI Dismisses Complaint Against Nestle India Over Maggi Sauce Water Source

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) dismissed a complaint alleging that Nestle India’s Goa factory used contaminated water from an extraction pump at an under-construction site to manufacture Maggi sauce.

The Commission observed that the issue primarily concerned food safety violations and did not raise any competition law concerns.

The petitioner had also claimed that false labelling misled consumers, breaching the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and constituted abuse of dominance under Section 4 of the Competition Act, 2002.

The Competition Commission, however, found no competition law violation.
