Centre Appoints Tushar Mehta-Led Team to Prosecute 26/11 Accused Tahawwur Rana

The Central government has appointed Solicitor General Tushar Mehta to lead a team of Special Public Prosecutors (SPPs) in the trial of Tahawwur Rana, an accused in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

Tahawwur Rana, a Pakistani-origin Canadian-American, was recently extradited from the U.S. and is in judicial custody till June 6. 

Alongside Mehta, ASG SV Raju and senior advocates Dayan Krishnan and Narender Mann will represent the NIA before special courts, the Delhi High Court, and the Supreme Court. 

Rana is accused of supporting terrorist David Headley and maintaining links with the ISI, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and the Pakistani Army.
