Centre Invites Public Feedback on Draft Rules Under Online Gaming Regulation Act, 2025

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has released draft rules under the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming (PROG) Act, 2025, and invited public comments until October 31.

The Act, passed by Parliament in August, banned and criminalised all real money games while permitting only social games and e-sports.

The rules recognised, registered, and categorised online games, provided grievance redressal mechanisms, and established the Online Gaming Authority of India (OGAI) as the regulator.

Based in Delhi-NCR, OGAI can certify games, maintain a registry, and act against violations.
