Centre Plans Audit of DISHA Legal Aid Scheme Before 2026 Deadline

The Indian government plans to conduct an independent review of the DISHA (Designing Innovative Solutions for Holistic Access to Justice in India) scheme before its scheduled end in 2026.

Launched in 2021 with a ₹250 crore budget, DISHA includes three key programmes: Tele-Law, Nyaya Bandhu (Pro Bono Legal Services), and Legal Literacy & Awareness.

The evaluation will assess effectiveness, scalability, and sustainability, and identify implementation gaps.

A tender notice has been issued for selecting evaluators to ensure timely completion. The audit will also analyse the impact of DISHA’s initiatives on targeted regions and beneficiaries.
