Supreme Court Seeks Centre’s Reply on Compensation Scheme for Child Sex Abuse Victims

The Supreme Court has sought responses from the Centre and the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights on a plea seeking compensation for child sex abuse victims under the POCSO Act.

The PIL filed by Just Rights for Children Alliance highlights the lack of implementation of a draft 2019 scheme aimed at compensating and rehabilitating such victims. Senior Advocate Pragyan Pradip Sharma argued that existing frameworks like the NALSA Scheme, 2018, fail to meet children's needs.

The bench, comprising Justices B.V. Nagarathna and Satish Chandra Sharma, noted the matter and listed the case for August 18, 2025.
