The Supreme Court has directed the Consortium of National Law Universities to revise the CLAT-UG 2025 merit list after finding significant errors in multiple questions and setting aside the directions issued by the Delhi HC.
It ordered awarding marks for some questions and deletion of others (Nos. 56, 77, 78, 85, 88, 115, 116), criticizing the casual approach in setting the paper.
Citing violations of Articles 14 and 21 of the Constitution, the Court emphasized the need for fairness and equal opportunity in national entrance exams.
The Court also invoked Article 141 to stress the binding nature of its 2018 directions, which the Union Government and Bar Council of India failed to act upon. The next hearing is scheduled for May 15, 2025.
