Gujarat Government Forms Five-Member Committee to Draft Uniform Civil Code

Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel announced the formation of a five-member committee to assess and draft a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) for the state, aligning with Prime Minister Modi's vision.

The committee, chaired by retired Supreme Court judge Smt. Ranjana Desai will submit its report within 45 days. 

CM assured that the UCC would protect tribal community customs while ensuring equal rights for all citizens in Gujarat.

The move comes in the wake of Uttarakhand making history as the first Indian state to implement the UCC.
