Comedian Kunal Kamra Faces FIR for ‘Traitor’ Remark on Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde

Mumbai Police has filed an FIR against stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra for allegedly making defamatory remarks about Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde during a show.

Kamra performed at the Habitat Comedy Club in Mumbai, where he sang a parody song to the tune of Dil To Pagal Hai, referencing Shinde’s 2022 defection from Shiv Sena.

Rahul Kanal, a leader from Shinde’s Shiv Sena faction, filed a complaint at Khar Police Station.

Based on this, an FIR was registered under Sections 353(1)(b) (public mischief) and 356(2) (defamation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
