The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has directed the Tamil Nadu government to confiscate vehicles involved in illegally transporting and dumping biomedical waste from Kerala.
The court emphasized that such practices pose a significant environmental threat.
Despite vehicles being seized in the past, the court noted they were not confiscated, which led to its order for vehicles to be auctioned under the Tamil Nadu Urban Local Bodies Act.
The court also dismissed a petition seeking the return of a truck seized in Tirunelveli, reaffirming that illegal dumping of medical waste is a serious offense.
