The Nainital Consumer Forum ordered Levi Strauss India Pvt. Ltd. to compensate ₹32,799 to a woman for selling defective jeans that caused color bleeding, damaging her Michael Kors bag and causing skin irritation.
Levi’s admitted that rinse-washed designs could bleed but failed to warn customers.
The company initially offered a replacement, indirectly validating the defect.
The forum directed Levi’s to refund ₹2,299, pay ₹15,500 for bag damage, ₹10,000 for mental distress, and ₹5,000 for litigation.
If unpaid within 45 days, an 8% annual interest will be applied.
