Contempt Proceedings Initiated Against Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas by High Court

The Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court has initiated contempt proceedings against law firm Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas (SAM). 

Justice Rahul Bharti at the Srinagar Bench cited alleged misrepresentation of the court’s 2010 judgment in a legal notice issued by SAM’s partner, Ritu Bhalla, concerning the Sawalkote Hydroelectric Project. 

The judgment, which quashed a government order on procedural grounds, was allegedly misquoted to affirm a contract's validity. SAM must now appear in court to address these allegations, highlighting the critical need for accurate legal representations.
