Court restrains YouTube, & others from Copyright Infringement

SOBO Films, a production company, filed a lawsuit claiming that platforms like YouTube, were hosting and distributing content that infringed their copyrights, causing financial and reputational damage.

The Bombay High Court issued an injunction against YouTube and other platforms, directing them to stop using or distributing content that violates SOBO Films' copyrights.

This order aims to protect the intellectual property rights of the company, ensuring that their content is not shared without proper authorization. 

The court's decision emphasizes the importance of adhering to copyright laws to prevent such infringements.

Section 51 of the Copyright Act, 1957, protects the exclusive rights of the copyright holder and allows for legal action against unauthorized use of their content.
