Defence Ministry Seeks Protection of 'Operation Sindoor' Logo

The Defence Ministry has formally requested protection of the “Operation Sindoor” logo under the Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act, 1950, following a surge of 46 pending trademark applications (phrases and logos such as “Operation Sindoor”, “Mission Sindoor”, etc.) filed since May 2025.

The Ministry of Commerce informed Parliament that none of the applications have been approved, and one by Reliance Industries has been withdrawn.

While the Trademark Act still governs such filings, there is no internal advisory restricting the use of military operation names.
