Delhi Govt Introduces Bill to Regulate and Control Private School Fees

The Delhi Government tabled the Delhi School Education (Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fees) Bill, 2025 during the Monsoon Session.

The bill mandates unaided recognised private schools, including minority and unauthorised land-based schools, to seek approval for fee hikes once every three years before a School‑Level Fee Regulation Committee.

Fee determinations must account for infrastructure, staff salaries, and operational costs, with management barred from profiteering. Financial disclosures must be made publicly.

A three-tier grievance mechanism is proposed, with appeal bodies at school, district, and state levels. Violations attract penalties of ₹1–₹10 lakh, escalating upon repeated breaches, and may lead to derecognition.
