Delhi CM Announces Pay Hike for Law Researchers of Delhi High Court Judges

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on September 4 announced an increase in honorarium for law researchers assisting Delhi High Court judges, revising their monthly pay from ₹65,000 to ₹80,000.

The High Court had approved the hike in 2023 with effect from October 1, 2022, but the decision remained pending with the government for nearly two years.

Due to this delay, the researchers approached the court seeking directions for implementation. During the last hearing on August 21, 2025, the Delhi Government had assured the Bench that the issue was before a competent authority and that a positive decision would be taken. 

The case is now scheduled for the next hearing on September 9, 2025.
