Kejriwal, Sisodia Challenge Privileges Committee Summons Over ‘Phaansi Ghar’ Remark: Delhi High Court

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia have moved the Delhi High Court challenging the summons issued by the Delhi Assembly’s Privileges Committee in connection with the ‘Phaansi Ghar’ (Hanging House) remark case.

The petition contends that the Committee’s inquiry, intended to verify the authenticity of the alleged structure, falls outside the legislative domain and exceeds the Privileges Committee’s jurisdiction.

The petitioners further argued that the summons relates to remarks made outside the House, which cannot attract breach of privilege proceedings, and that the Committee’s actions infringe upon their constitutional right to freedom of speech and legislative privileges.
