A Delhi court has cautioned the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to maintain objectivity and ensure that its official social media posts are factually accurate and non-sensational.
The Rouse Avenue Court made the observation while rejecting former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain’s defamation plea against BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj. Jain had challenged an ED tweet that allegedly implied seizure of gold and cash from his residence.
The Court said misleading or defamatory messaging can harm both the ED’s credibility and an individual’s right to reputation under Article 21.
