Delhi Court Convicts Man for Abusing and Threatening Woman Over Calls and Messages

A Delhi court convicted Vikrant Grewal under Sections 509 and 506 IPC for using vulgar language and threatening a woman to insult her modesty.

The accused repeatedly harassed the woman over the phone, sent abusive WhatsApp messages calling her “randi,” and visited her rented home to intimidate her.

The court held that the word “randi” deeply attacks a woman’s character and modesty, especially when used with intent. Grewal also threatened rape and murder, constituting criminal intimidation.

The woman’s consistent testimony and Grewal’s admission of sending the messages led to his conviction. Sentencing is scheduled for July 27.
