Delhi Court Extends NIA Custody of Five Accused in Red Fort Blast Case till January 16

A Delhi court extended the NIA custody of five accused in the Red Fort blast case till January 16, allowing continued custodial interrogation.

The Court accepted the agency’s submission that the accused needed to be confronted with co-accused, suspects, and witnesses over contradictory statements.

The NIA said further custody was required to analyse digital evidence, explain code words and incriminating material, trace communications and movements, and uncover the larger conspiracy.

The blast occurred outside the Red Fort on November 10 last year, resulting in multiple fatalities, and the agency has so far arrested nine accused.
