A Delhi District Court dismissed advocate Mehmood Pracha’s plea seeking to nullify the Supreme Court’s 2019 Ayodhya verdict, imposing ₹6 lakh as costs for filing a frivolous and misconceived petition.
District Judge Dharmender Rana held that Pracha’s claims based on Chief Justice DY Chandrachud’s remarks about “praying to God” for a solution were speculative and undermined judicial discipline.
The Court ruled that the statement was a spiritual reflection, not an admission of bias, and observed that Pracha abused the legal process and wrongly impleaded the former CJI, thus enhancing the earlier ₹1 lakh fine to ₹6 lakh.
