A Delhi court has framed charges of criminal conspiracy and bribery against Congress MP Karti Chidambaram in the alleged Chinese visa scam.
The CBI alleges that Chidambaram facilitated visas for around 250 Chinese nationals in 2011 by influencing public officials, in return for illegal gratification of ₹50 lakh.
Charges have also been framed against six other accused, while one person has been discharged. The court is yet to pass a detailed order.
Chidambaram has denied all allegations, stating that searches conducted by the CBI did not recover any incriminating material linking him to the offence.
