Delhi Court Punishes Litigants with ‘Hands Up’ in Air for Wasting its Time

A Delhi court imposed an unconventional punishment on litigants who delayed proceedings by failing to submit bail bonds on time.

Judicial Magistrate Saurabh Goyal found them guilty of contempt under Section 228 IPC and ordered them to stand in the courtroom with their hands raised until the day's hearings concluded.

The case was called twice between 10:00 AM and 11:40 AM without compliance. One accused, Kuldeep, was initially sent to judicial custody but later released after bond submission.

The court criticised the delay, highlighting the wastage of valuable judicial time.
