Delhi Court Denies Interim Relief to Newslaundry Against Adani Gag Order

A Delhi court has denied interim relief to digital news platform Newslaundry in an appeal challenging a gag order passed by a civil court, due to which several news platforms were prohibited from publishing any defamatory content against Adani Enterprises Limited.

The decision was given keeping in mind that Newslaundry was not an aggrieved party as it was not named as a defendant in the suit before the civil court.

Further, the Court held that even if the platforms are being asked to take down the content, the platforms can sue them individually.

The Rohini Court had previously ordered the removal of defamatory content and restrained journalists from publishing unverified information concerning Adani Enterprises.
