Delhi Court Slams Police for 10-Year Delay in Filing FIR After Dead Body Found

A Delhi court has strongly criticised the city police for failing to register an FIR for over a decade after a man’s body was found in suspicious circumstances in 2007.

Judicial Magistrate Bharti Beniwal noted signs of possible homicide, such as a ligature mark and head injury, yet no FIR was filed until 2016.

The Court observed that key witnesses and suspects were never questioned, raising concerns of deliberate inaction.

The Court called this conduct “highly suspicious” and suggested possible collusion. Notices have been issued to senior officers to determine accountability. The next hearing is on August 2.
