Delhi Court Rejects Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi’s Plea Against Day-to-Day Trial in IRCTC Scam Case

A Delhi court has dismissed the plea filed by former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and his wife Rabri Devi, challenging the day-to-day trial order in the IRCTC scam case.

Special Judge (PC Act) at Rouse Avenue Courts held that their request was “not maintainable, practicable, or justified,” and upheld the accelerated hearing schedule.

The couple had argued that the daily proceedings infringed upon their right to prepare their defence and amounted to denial of a fair trial.

However, CBI’s Special Public Prosecutor opposed the plea, citing Supreme Court directions that corruption cases involving MPs and MLAs must be conducted expeditiously.
