In a major move to address growing parental protests, the Delhi Cabinet has approved the Delhi School Education (Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fees) Bill, 2025.
The Bill mandates school-level, district, and state committees to regulate fee hikes in all 1,677 private and aided schools. Schools must now get prior clearance before increasing fees.
Violations could attract fines up to ₹10 lakh.
The new law empowers parents, curbs coercive tactics by schools, and aims to ensure transparency. Over 150 schools have already been served with notices following inspections across the city.
