Delhi Govt To Delhi High Court : Consumer Forum Officials Will Continue Until New Appointments

The Delhi government has informed the Delhi High Court that presidents, presiding officers, and members of State and District Consumer Commissions will continue in office until new officials are recruited. 

This came during a PIL hearing, which warned that 19 officials are set to retire soon, risking a standstill in the forums’ work.

Citing a Supreme Court judgment, the High Court declined to issue fresh directions but emphasized the need to avoid “headless institutions.”

The Court noted the government’s commitment to ensure continuity and will review the matter based on the steps taken to fill upcoming vacancies.
