The Delhi High Court granted an ex parte ad interim injunction in favour of the Football Association Premier League Limited (FAPL), restraining rogue platforms like Yoghurt TV, Venus 11, and Nova IPTV from illegally streaming Premier League matches in India.
Citing violations under the Copyright Act, 1957, the Court ordered domain registrars and ISPs to block over 30 infringing domains and directed government authorities to ensure strict compliance.
A ‘dynamic+’ injunction and John Doe protection were also issued to curb future infringements.
The Court asked authorities to ensure strict compliance, stressing the need for urgent IP rights protection in the digital era.
