The Delhi High Court has held that social media posts that cross into insult or humiliation violate an individual’s right to dignity.
Justice Ravinder Dudeja observed that while Article 19 guarantees free speech, it must operate within reasonable restrictions and cannot trample personal dignity.
The observation came while granting anticipatory bail to actor Ajaz Khan, accused of making sexually explicit remarks on social media against a YouTuber’s family.
The Court added that influencers with large audiences must exercise caution, as their content can cause lasting harm even if later deleted.
